The Dangers of Bottled Water

Many people think bottled water is safer than tap water. There is no such guarantee & here's why...
Little Regulations on Bottled Water
Most developed countries  {e.g. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the U.S} have strict water quality standards for tap water, but they DO NOT oversee bottled water.
Many of the regulators do not prevent bottling companies from drawing water next to industrial sites, underground storage tanks or dumps.
Bottled Water Do contain Contaminants
An independent test performed by the Environmental Working Group revealed 38 low-level contaminants in bottled water, with each of the 10 tested brands containing an average of 8 chemicals including:
  • Disinfection by-products (DBPs)
  • Caffeine & Tylenol
  • Nitrate
  • Industrial chemicals
  • Arsenic & bacteria
In Pennsylvania, the state health department tested the water and found high levels of coliform bacteria after a man reported getting sick from drinking bottled water. In California, an independent lab tested for hundreds of different chemicals in 38 brands of California bottled water. 2 samples had arsenic contamination, 6 had chemical by-products of chlorination & 6 had measurable levels of the toxic chemical toluene.
In fact Coca Cola’s Dasani & Pepsi’s Aquafina are tap water coming from places like Queens, New York and Jacksonville, Florida

Drinking from Plastic Bottles May Be Harmful to Your Health
When drinking bottled water you need to think not only about the purity of the water but also about the bottle itself. Plastic is not an inert substance like glass. It contains chemicals like bisphenol A (BPA) and phthalates, which mimic hormones in your body. These chemicals can leach out and contaminate the water under the best of conditions, but tends to increase anytime the bottle has been exposed to heat, and when it is reused.
Tons of Waste to our Environment
Lastly, do consider the millions of Tons of used water bottles that are found in our dump sites & the tremendous impact it has on our ecology.
Our recommendation – use BPA free bottles & Filtered water from your tap. Why pay over 1,000 times more for bottled water when you can get it (and safer I may add) from your tap!
